At Volvo Cars Dublin, we are eagerly anticipating the all-new, all electric Volvo EX30 SUV. Why? It represents not only Volvo’s most compact SUV, by also its safest ever. Given Volvo’s reputation for safety, that’s an impressive statement.
The Volvo EX30 was built to keep drivers and passengers safe and excels in city and urban environments.
“We have long had a focus on safety in city environments where cars share space with pedestrians and cyclists,” said Åsa Haglund, the head of our Safety Centre. “With the Volvo EX30 we are taking city safety to the next level, creating a small SUV that is your perfect companion for a comfortable driving experience, while it looks after you and other people on the busy streets of modern cities.”
The Volvo EX30 features new Safe Space Technology that applies the high Volvo safety standards to its latest SUV. It’s designed to be city-safe with technology specifically aimed at protecting people in busy urban environments. Even the smallest challenges that city driving presents have been taken into account.
For example, car doors opening inadvertently into the path of cyclists is the cause for a significant number of incidents. To reduce these, the Volvo EX30 is equipped with a door opening alert that warns you of on-coming cyclists with both visual and audio cues.
The Volvo EX30, was designed for the real world. It accounts for drivers who may be tired or distracted. It features a new advanced driver alert system that comes standard to help prevent potential problems before they occur. It has hands-on detection in the steering wheel and a special sensor, running on powerful algorithms and located behind the steering wheel, that detects eye and face movements around 13 times per second. The EX30 senses if you’re distracted, drowsy or otherwise inattentive, even if you might not have realized it yourself.
In the city, Volvo’s new intersection auto brake feature is designed to help you avoid accidents at intersections. In the event that another car crosses in front of you unexpectedly, the automatic brake intervention feature is designed to pull the car to a stop and help mitigate or avoid a collision.
And because, even with Volvos preventative technology, accidents can still happen, protecting drivers and passengers in the event of a crash has always been a top priority for Volvo engineers. The Volvo EX30 has a strengthened safety cage, A, B and C pillars, and roof.
This all serves to give you the safest driving experience possible. At Volvo Cars Dublin, we share this commitment to safety and look forward to the EX30 joining our selection of safe, new Volvo SUV, cars and wagons like the XC90, XC40, C40, and the anticipated EX90.
